I asked Google Bard to tell me about the top tech news for today. If AI is going to assist with writing in the future, it needs to be accurate and informative. Here's what it had to say, and I will comment after this what it got right and where it needs to improve or got something wrong.

Ok, there's the news according to Google Bard.
Here's what it did well:
- Clear and concise information with headings on each news item.
- It talked about things that are interesting.
Here's what it didn't do well or got wrong:
It talked about things too far in the past.
It wasn't completely accurate in its information.
First, the Apple iPhone SE 2023 is expected to launch on May 31, 2023.
Second, the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro Phone were talked about 6 months ago. This news is old.
Third, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra with S Pen has been talked about for a couple of months already. This news is old.
Fourth, for the Meta virtuality headset, this is actually good and interesting news, even though it was also mentioned over 6 months ago.
Fifth, Elon Musk bought Twitter a while ago on October 27, 2002. This is old news and the deal isn't closing last month, March 2023.
I liked that Google Bard gave me good news, but it wasn't up-to-date and accurate. Here's what needs to change before I start to use it to help me write articles:
- It needs to link back to sources of information that it used.
- It needs to use the latest news - within the last month or two.
- It needs to be accurate and not get things wrong.
- It needs to link to images of the news that people have used.
- It needs to share an opinion about the news and not just regurgitate information.
I think we are a ways away from the AI sharing an opinion, but the first four items are very doable, and I look forward to improvements in Google Bard, so I can use it as an assistant to write articles.
